Short routes

Nifty blue metal dining area gives this room an outdoorsy feel.

Back to local

Actually no. Newly paved over.

Crisp

From yesterday, when a tee shirt was enough, to this jacket-worthy day, we are faced with the see-saw of weather. We have become accustomed but every day stands sui-generis to surprise.

Close walking

It feels secluded over here on the extreme East Side. This short Avenue is rich with the feelings of privacy and privilege but it remains humble and accessible.

Have I mentioned that my path today is circumscribed by the demands of the Marathon?

City and Suburban
Helicopter overhead reminds me of the paranoic ending of Goodfellas.

I spy with my little…

1 & 2 One way of keeping your ride intact might be to dismantle it before securing it.

3 & 4 Across from the yellow cycle, I see this dining kiosk. It sports art meant to transport us to the Italian Village of its name.

5 Remnants of Halloween still decorate these steps. You can’t blame the decorator for leaving them up; s/he took such pains with them.

From the bus

There’s a kind of no man’s land coming up the hill from maybe 38th Street on 1st Avenue. The United Nations is the next stop on the bus. The landscape when we arrive there is back to the “real New York;” this despite the fact that the UN is situated on its own independent “island,” not under the city’s jurisdiction.

It’s November 1st .Pandora invited me to sample the Dia de los Muertos soundtrack. Why not? I am accompanying that view above with some Mexican songs in celebration.

Today was not a big day for walking for me, but I did pass this at the VFA on 23rd Street.
